REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Vice President of Geology and Geophysics.
SCOPE
Over the past few years our client has experienced steady growth primarily through the evaluation and subsequent acquisition of marketed properties with development drilling of previously acquisition identified, extensional, or newly developed opportunities. In order to maintain this growth, we have been asked to identify and recruit a motivated and talented Petroleum Geologist that can help expand and extend their ability to evaluate new and existing acquisitions and develop new opportunities through the drill bit. The opportunity will include field and property studies of existing and potential acquisition properties and development or extension of existing or new drilling opportunities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
The Geologist will be responsible for the following:
• Conducting geological studies for evaluation or creation of development and exploratory drilling opportunities, and reserve support.
• Utilizing workstation based GeoGraphix and related software to create presentation quality geologic documentation of properties and their existing, undeveloped, or exploratory potential. Includes structural, isochronal, and volumetric mapping with relevant geologic, petrophysical and geophysical support.
• Experience in geologic operations including creation of a geologic prognosis, directional planning, horizontal steering, mudlogger and wireline supervision and petrophysical evaluation.
• Evaluation of development and exploratory drilling submittals. Capable of presenting and selling properties, prospects or ideas to management or industry partners.
• Developing and maintaining key contacts within the oil and gas industry to keep abreast of current trends and new opportunities.
• Staying current with geologic and technology trend developments and advances; including workstation and data vendor software.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
The final candidate must possess a degree in geology, an advanced degree preferred. All candidates must have 8-15 years of industry experience. The Geologist must have extensive practical and technical experience in petroleum exploitation in multiple basins. The finalist will be able to document a record of using interpretive skills to be a strong team player resulting in reserve additions and field performance improvements. The right individual will have demonstrated a high level of seismic expertise in his/her career along with a good understanding of producing and exploration operations.
The Geologist will be a bright, energetic, detail-oriented, and articulate individual with a reputation of integrity, maturity and sound business judgment. This individual must be a self-starter, a disciplined and organized person with the ability to translate ideas into action-oriented recommendations. Career efforts and an excellent reputation will have provided him/her with the ability to develop a network of industry contacts.
In summary, this individual will become an integral team member by taking an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to field studies, geologic analysis and reserve additions that will build future value for the company.
