Sales & Marketing Manager (Pipeline Industry)

COMPANY

Our client, formed in 1997, is a specialty subcontractor operating within the pipeline construction industry.  The company provides a variety of products and services within the industry including a full range of buoyancy control products, polyurethane foam applications, sandbags, seeding and restoration services and mat cleaning services and has several additional profit opportunities under development. 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This individual will report to the Project Manager.

SCOPE

Recently our client has expanded their capabilities through significant capital expenditure.  The company’s revenues have increased every year and they intend to continue to gain more market share going forward.  In order to maintain this growth, we have been asked to identify and recruit a seasoned sales and marketing professional with an extensive background in the pipeline construction industry. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Specifically, the Sales and Marketing Manager will be responsible for the following:

•    Maintaining current customer relationships and developing new client contacts.
•    Coordinating and gathering information for major project bidding as well as commercial/operational and technical presentations.
•    Providing timely and accurate reports on business opportunities and customer activities.  Analyze each opportunity and provide feedback to management.
•    Attending and effectively represent the Company at trade organization functions as identified and directed by the management team.
•    Keeping management informed of conditions, activities, and trends including customer or prospect changes, technical developments, and competitive strategies.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in business, engineering or a related discipline or equivalent industry experience.  He/she will be a proven sales professional with a minimum of 10 years experience selling products and services within the pipeline construction industry.  Specific experience and contacts with Senior Managers of oil and gas operators, engineering and contracting companies is essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for client relations, sales campaigns, and contract negotiations.  He or she will become familiar with key client decision makers, stay abreast of client organizational changes and understand the business development opportunities with existing and potential clients.  As such, this individual will be responsible for recommending target opportunities, developing proposal strategy and participating in proposal preparation under the direction of the management team. 

This individual must be well organized and have a high energy level.  He or she must be a perceptive self starter who can implement effective sales and marketing programs and make adjustments for industry trends, market swings and competitor activities.  The successful candidate will be innovative, have the ability to perceive business opportunities and work closely with Company management in developing and executing strategies which capitalize on these opportunities.

The finalist must possess a professional demeanor and excellent oral and written communication skills.  He or she will be the type of individual who can interact effectively both professionally and socially, with people at all levels.  This individual must conduct himself/herself in a manner which will reflect favorably upon the Company, enhance its reputation and promote good will.  The successful individual will have a reputation for integrity, maturity, and sound business judgment.

In summary, the successful candidate must be a proven sales professional who can implement strategic marketing plans and successfully bring target projects to closure while working in a team environment.
