Senior Geologist/Geoscientist


COMPANY

Our client is a diversified natural resource company founded in 1966.  The company owns non-operated working interests in oil and gas, geothermal and mineral properties.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position will report to the President and Chief Executive Officer.


SCOPE

The successful candidate will be heavily involved in prospect evaluation and acquisition review and will be asked to help identify opportunities in both conventional and non-conventional basins.


SPECIFIC DUTIES

Specifically, the Senior Geologist/Geoscientist will be responsible for the following:

 Manage current projects including review of  integrated partnership development plans with particular emphasis on identifying future potential and evaluating new well data;
 Target and evaluate potential acquisitions or joint ventures;
 Be an integral part in achieving business goals during active exploratory and development drilling with industry partners;
 Oversee preparation of categorized reserve/contingent resource estimates and associated production projections;
 Conduct technical analysis including:
    o Validation of pre-existing interpretations and concepts;
    o Creating new interpretations (i.e. depositional environment models, type logs, structure maps, isopach maps, cross sections, qualitative well log/mud log/ core analysis, annotated bubble maps. etc.)
    o Seismic data interpretation;
 Participate in and periodically represent the company business interests at various partner technical meetings;
 Provide geologic expertise to all phases of E&P operations.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in geology/geophysics or physics, an advanced degree preferred, with a minimum of 15 years of exploration experience.

The Senior Geologist/Geoscientist must have extensive practical and technical experience in petroleum exploration and exploitation throughout the Rocky Mountain region, Gulf Coast (onshore) and mid-continent region.  The finalist will be able to document a record of prospect generation or review, acquisition and drilling success within areas of responsibility. 

The Senior Geologist/Geoscientist will be a bright, energetic, detail-oriented, and articulate individual with a reputation of integrity, maturity and sound business judgment.  This individual must be a self-starter, a disciplined and organized person with the ability to translate ideas into action-oriented recommendations.  Career efforts and an excellent reputation will have provided him/her with the ability to develop a network of industry contacts.
