COMPANY
Our client is a well established, well respected, publicly held, oil and gas exploration, development, acquisition, and production company currently focused in the Gulf Coast region, primarily offshore. Their strategy is to grow through acquiring and exploring for oil and gas both onshore and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico Region utilizing the latest 3-D seismic technology. The Company’s Gulf of Mexico operations are both on the shelf and in deepwater.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Controller.
SCOPE
Our client seeks to hire a Manager of Financial Reporting who has a strong background in public reporting and can assist the Controller with day to day financial functions. This individual should be a financial professional that has the ability to understand business fundamentals and prepare financial forecast models, as well as, manage all financial reporting requirements.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
The Manager of Financial Reporting will be responsible for the following activities:
• Managing the external and internal audit functions.
• Independently preparing SEC reporting documents, financial presentations for the Board of Directors, investment presentations, etc.
• Heavy knowledge of U.S. GAAP, consolidations and reporting.
• SEC and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations, disclosure, filings and processes.
• Interpret operating results as they affect the financial position of the Business Unit and make specific recommendations to reduce costs and improve profitability.
• Assist in budgeting activities as required.
• Oversee daily transaction processing activities and monthly close process.
• Assist the Controller, VP Treasurer and the CFO as needed.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Manager of Financial Reporting will be a talented, financial professional with a minimum of ten years experience in public accounting and/or industry. The successful candidate will possess an accounting degree, MBA and/or CPA is a plus. The right individual will have public accounting experience with SEC registered clients (Big 4 preferred). It is essential that this individual have comprehensive/working knowledge of GAAP and SOX.
The Manager of Financial Reporting must be a self-starter with the drive and ability to achieve objectives. He/she should be proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. The successful candidate will have a reputation for honesty, integrity, maturity, financial acumen, and sound business judgment. In addition, this individual must be capable of assuming responsibilities above those outlined in this specification.
In summary, the Manager of Financial Reporting must be intelligent; of strong character; capable of working independently; possess a high grade of energy; and have the proper personal demeanor, communication skills, and professional outlook to maintain a positive working environment that consist of an experienced staff with an average tenure of 18 years.
