This position reports to the President of the Company.
SCOPE
Our client is a leading coalbed methane operator and developer of unconventional gas and shale plays. The company is seeking to aggressively expand operations in new areas. To support the growth strategy, they have asked us to identify and recruit an individual who will be responsible for evaluating and recommending new business development opportunities, as well as reservoir descriptions and geological evaluations on existing assets.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Specifically, the Manager of Geology will be responsible for the following:
• Source, screen and evaluate new business opportunities;
• Conduct geological review of existing properties to identify, evaluate, and develop exploitation opportunities;
• Support the development of capital budgets, operations reviews, and assist in financing meetings and presentations;
• Prepare and coordinate in-house and third party reserve estimates, capital budgets, and operations reviews;
• Evaluate existing assets and support ongoing drilling activities;
• Interfacing with management, existing operations, accounting, and land efforts.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology; a Master’s is preferred, as well as at least 15 years of experience showing increasing responsibilities and a strong project development background. The ideal individual will be a demonstrated team leader with a track record of success in evaluating, acquiring and executing on projects in major basins throughout the lower 48, in both conventional and unconventional reservoirs.
The successful candidate must possess strong abilities in Petra and have knowledge of IHS data access and features. This individual must have strong technical skills and effectively collaborate with engineering, financial, and operational functions, incorporating their inputs into evaluations.
This individual will support drilling programs, develop prospects, and make drilling prognosis, as well as assist in running acquisitions and operations as a business, supported by data and financial analysis.
Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner. Furthermore, candidates will also possess excellent management, administrative and organizational skills. Teamwork, technical acumen, and presentation skills will all be important in this role. This individual must be willing to travel as needed.
