Reservoir Engineer - Business Development

Our client is a well established, well respected, publicly held, oil and gas exploration, development, acquisition, and production company.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Vice President of Production & Development
SCOPE:
Our client’s new growth strategy is to acquire development and exploratory drilling opportunities. They have asked us to identify and recruit a talented Reservoir Engineer with knowledge of evolving shale plays that can provide technical analysis of potential acquisitions and divestitures incorporating geologic, reservoir, production and operations engineering as well as financial analysis.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Specifically, the Reservoir Engineer will be responsible for the following:
• Participate in the evaluation of technical data for potential acquisitions and divestitures for the company.
• Coordinate evaluation of operations, land, acquisition accounting and business development; and incorporate findings of each in the technical evaluation and recommendation.
• Responsible for the reserve estimation production forecast and economic analysis/planning for prospect/fields.
• Identify and quantify potential upside, as well as downside, scenarios for potential acquisitions.
• Review and make recommendations and presentations regarding prospective acquisitions and divestitures providing technical facts and summary findings.
• Participate in financial projections of acquisitions to the management group department for tracking and grading of acquisitions.
• Participate in the generation of divestiture packages including reservoir engineering, geology, land, and economics.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering with ten years minimum experience in the oil and gas industry in technical positions of increasing responsibility. Ideally, this person will also have an MBA or industry related financial experience.
The right individual will have a strong working knowledge (skill set) in all aspects of oil and gas reservoir engineering, as well as experience with shale plays. Additionally, candidates should also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner. Furthermore, candidates will also possess excellent management, administrative and organizational skills.
The ideal individual will be proficient in working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook), Aries economics evaluation software, nodal analysis software, and generally accepted petroleum engineering software packages.
In summary, this individual will become an integral team member by taking an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to reservoir analysis and reserve additions that will build value for the company over the next several years.
