Reservoir Engineer

Our client is a well established, well respected, publicly held, oil and gas exploration, development, acquisition, and production company.

SCOPE

Our client is seeking a talented Reservoir Engineer to support its development activity focused on Permian Basin Wolfberry assets.  Our client’s new growth strategy is to acquire development and exploratory drilling opportunities.  Currently, the company operates 35 wells in the area with plans to quadruple their activity this year.  The Reservoir Engineer will be working in a small team environment with a geologist, production engineer, drilling superintendent and operations manager.


SPECIFIC DUTIES

This individual will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, presenting, and monitoring oil and gas development and exploitation projects, as well as identifying and quantifying oil and gas targets of reserves.  

As a member of the engineering team, this individual will be responsible for the following:

• Designing and conducting reservoir field studies.
• Optimize plan of development for Permian Wolfberry assets.
• Identifying and applying the needed tools to solve reservoir engineering problems (Pressure Transient Analysis, Reservoir Simulation, Probabilistic Reserve Evaluation, Material Balance, Decline Curve Analysis, Nodal Analysis, etc).
• Developing economic justification and decision support package for new wells.
• Determining proved developed and proved undeveloped reserves and maintaining up-to-date reserve system.
• Building and running simple reservoir models to assist in long term reservoir management.
• Evaluating and participating in active business development activity to grow asset base for future growth.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

The final candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering.  The ideal individual will have at least 10 years of industry experience as well as previous exposure to the Permian Basin.  The successful candidate will possess the ability to conduct detailed reservoir evaluations and studies and integrate geological and geophysical data into reservoir engineering calculations.  The Reservoir Engineer will also need to be able to integrate data from different sources into the models.

This individual must possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Aries economic software and/or other reservoir engineering software tools, well log evaluations, risk assessment, PETRA, Rate Transient Analysis (RTA), Power Tools, and Nodal analysis is preferred.  The Reservoir Engineer must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner.
