REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Head of Development Engineering and will interface with department staff.

SCOPE

As a result of this new joint venture, our client is seeking talented industry professionals to help them continue to exploit and develop its assets throughout South Texas and the Burgos Basin.  The Field Geologist will be responsible for the company’s wells within these regions.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

The Field Geologist will be responsible for the following:

•    Expertise in integrated cross-discipline formation evaluation, including data acquisition; analysis and interpretation of open and cased hole logs; mud logs; coring procedures and analysis related to standard and specialized sidewall, rotary sidewall, and conventional cores and techniques; subsurface fluid sampling and analysis; RFT and drill stem test procedures and analysis; and pore pressure prediction and analysis;
•    Integration of borehole derived rock properties with geophysical data, including well ties, fluid substitution and mechanical properties;
•    Supervise and QC mud logging operations;
•    Supervise and QC MWD/LWD and wireline logging operations;
•    Prepare and transmit daily geological reports/summary of rig activities;
•    Perform real time geological correlation with offset wells, comparing pre-drill and post-drill prognosis and report findings;
•    Prepare composite logs for the section of well drilled;
•    Prepare and submit Geological Well Report at the end of the drilling;
•    Must be on-call 24/7 to address any potential issues that may arise.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

The final candidate must possess a degree in geology, geophysics or physics.  Candidates possessing knowledge of petrophysics would be considered a plus. All candidates must have 10+ years of industry experience with an exploration and production company.  Potential candidates should also have a good working knowledge of Spanish.

The Field Geologist will be a bright, energetic, detail-oriented, and articulate individual with a reputation of integrity, maturity and sound business judgment.  This individual must be a self-starter, a disciplined and organized person with the ability to translate ideas into action-oriented recommendations.
